AZURITE

Blue Grotto Prospect,

La Sal, San Juan County, Utah

I recently ran across a small batch of these classic azurites that had been stashed away.   The specimens shown here are the best of the lot.   Most are crystallized all the way around, are a deep royal blue in color, and have great luster.   The last two aren't as lustrous as the rest, but they have great crystals too so I wanted to include them here.   Several of the specimens have varying amounts of malachite associated, which makes for a very pleasing color contrast.   From what I've heard the Blue Grotto Prospect is played out and has been closed, so it's doubtful that any more of these will be coming out.
